Reports claim that Ipswich Town captain David Norris is being sought after by Portsmouth, with the Blues said to have rejected an initial offer for the player.
Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill is said to have bid just £250,000 for the 29-year-old, whom Jim Magilton signed from Plymouth for an estimated £2 million three years ago. If true, the offer would surely be nothing short of an insult.
It would be no surprise if Norris is attracting interest from other clubs. Since being handed the captaincy after the departure of Jon Walters in August 2010, Norris has excelled in the Ipswich team this year. A string of good performances has been capped with 6 goals in all competitions, making him one of Town's highest scorers so far this campaign.
There is concern however that the Blues may struggle to keep hold of the midfielder, who is one of 21 Town players set to be out-of-contract in the summer. Indeed, Norris recently urged the club to give him a new contract if they do not wish for him to start looking elsewhere. Should the club allow him to move on, it would likely prove very controversial with the fans.
Meanwhile, another man who could be set to leave is Jake Livermore. The on-loan Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is due to return to White Hart Lane next week, but he is likely to leave earlier than then due to a groin injury for which he is expected to require surgery.
Elsewhere Livermore's Spurs team-mate and former Town loanee Andros Townsend has joined Championship rivals Watford on loan until the end of the season. The 19-year-old left Portman Road in December despite originally signing a deal until May 2011 due to a lack of first team football under previous boss Roy Keane.
