Ipswich Eyeing Nosworthy Again?

Tabloid reports claim that Ipswich Town are once again seeking to sign Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy.

Nosworthy, who has spent most of the past two seasons on loan at recently relegated Sheffield United, has been a target for the Blues on a number of previous occasions. Former boss Joe Royle missed out on the then-Gillingham full back when he first moved to Sunderland on a free transfer in 2005, then Roy Keane was widely reported to have targeted Nosworthy in 2009 having previously worked with him during his managerial tenure at the Stadium of Light.

Now 30, Nosworthy has only one year remaining on his current contract with Sunderland and looks likely to leave the Mackems this summer, with a number of Championship clubs said to be targeting the London-born Jamaican international. The Blues are in need of an experienced right-back, though Ipswich manager Paul Jewell is reported as regarding the player as a possible replacement for departing centre-back Gareth McAuley.

Meanwhile various clubs are said to be in the hunt for Town's numerous out-of-contract players. West Bromwich Albion have emerged as the favourites for McAuley's signature despite previous links with Rangers, whilst Hull City are thought to be targeting midfielder David Norris and goalkeeper Brian Murphy is said to be interesting Championship title-winners QPR.
