Wellens Only Allowed To Join Rubbish Club

Wellens Only Allowed To Join Rubbish Club

In a pretty embarrassing admission, Ritchie Wellens has revealed he wa sonly allowed to join a bottom four Championhip club, or drop into League One.

Wellens is only at Portman Road to get fit after a knee operation and admits Leicester boss Nigel Pearson would not let him go to a rival.

The 32-year-old said: "It was a tough one because I need games, but Leicester are doing well (five straight wins) and so aren`t going to go changing their side.

"Nigel wanted me to go to a League One club on loan because there were more games during the international break and I was due to go to Sheffield United until one of their midfielders came back from a suspension.

"Eventually he gave me the choice of the bottom four clubs in the Championship because he didn`t want me to go to one of Leicester`s rivals at the moment. There was Millwall and Peterborough but Ipswich really stood out for me."

He is only here for amonth but sadly it just shows how low Ipswich have stooped.
