Wellens Set To Leave Town

Wellens Set To Leave Town

Outspoken Ritchie Wellens could return to Leicester from his loan spell at Ipswich earlier than expected after picking up a throat infection.

The midfielder was not due back at the Foxes until after Town's game at Palace on Tuesday but a suspected case of tonsilitis could see him leave as early as today.

Mick McCarthy is unlikely to take him in the squad travelling to Birmingham but he will be assessed further on Monday.

Wellens won approval from the vast majority of Blues fans for getting stuck into the players who were not showing passion or looking as if they cared and said a new manager would need to stick a rocket up their backsides.

Whether him opening his mouth has made him any friends in the dressing room is another matter and could be a factor in him leaving early.
