What are Your Views On The Blues?
The new season is but five weeks away and there have been some promising signs of late that owner Marcus Evans is prepared to splash the cash and make a genuine attempt to improve the fortunes of Ipswich Town football club.
As I have indicated, I do not think this is a coincidence. Last term we came perilously close to falling further into the football abyss and he knows that another season full of loans and too many short term contracts will not encourage many quality players to come here.
Worse still perhaps is the thought that we could plummet further - just as our season tickets have tended to do recently.
So what do you think about it all? So far the signings have been encouraging but now manager Mick McCarthy has stated that we will have to sell players before we can increase our current stock.
Obviously Kevin Bru and Brett Pitman have been shown the door but who else might depart the Blues over the coming weeks?
Jonas Knudsen looked like he might have been heading to Wolves but they appear to have found another wing back in the meantime and they have cooled on a possible deal and Bristol City were showing some interest in Cole Skuse, according to a reliable source close to the club over there.
We all hope that Bartosz Bialkowski stays put because in all honesty Dean Gerken is not really in the same league.
I am certainly a lot more hopeful of the season ahead with news today that Bersant Celina has signed on a season long loan from Manchester City, although he will do well to reach the heights of Tom Lawrence - or indeed Ryan Fraser but we live in hope.
Twente are not a bad side in the top flight of Netherlands football but having watched the Eredivisie week in and week out, he is not a name that immediately springs to mind so we must be careful what we wish for here.
I am interested to know your views on the Blues and whether you believe we are heading in the right direction or not?
Drop me a line, or contribute by writing your own blog because we are a broad church of opinions here at Ipswich Town football club.
