August PotM Nomination - Waghorn (Ipswich)

August PotM Nomination - Waghorn (Ipswich)

The August nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Award are:

Darnell Fisher (Preston) - full-back
A member of the Rotherham defence which conceded 98 Championship goals last season, the 23-year-old right-back played a full part in Preston`s four clean sheets in five August games, demonstrated by his astute goal-line clearance at Leeds.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (Cardiff City) - winger
Began this campaign with the same exciting brand of attacking flair with which he finished last season, albeit at a new club and a division higher. His four goals from four starts included a stunning finish in the win over Sheffield United.

Billy Sharp (Sheffield United) - striker
Last season`s League One Player of the Year, Sharp underlined his importance to his beloved Blades with four goals from five games. He is the only Sheffield United player to score so far on their return to the Championship.

Martyn Waghorn (Ipswich Town) - striker
Impacts do not come much more immediate than his at Portman Road. Signed from Rangers with the season underway, he scored four goals with his first four shots on target as an Ipswich player in just three-and-a-half games.

Winners will be announced on Friday 8th September 2017.
