Can Town Stop The Unstoppable Wolves?

Can Town Stop The Unstoppable Wolves?

Town face arguably the toughest test of their Championship aspirations, when the Blues travel to The Midlands this afternoon.

Wolves comfortably lead the chasing pack, having already won 16 times this season and they will be in no mood to relinquish their fine home form, against an Ipswich team that have found the going hard on their travels so far.

Wolves may stick with Ruben Vinagre at left back today, if first choice wing back Barry Douglas fails a late fitness test.

Ipswich on the other hand will be sweating on the fitness of the irrepressible Cole Skuse and with a lengthy midfield injury crisis, manger Mick McCarthy this week decided to recall Adam McDonnell from his loan spell at Aldershot.

It is unlikely he will feature from the start but could find himself with a place on the bench, given our midfield shortages. Skuse is one of eight midfielders that are currently unavailable - although some of them are nearing a return.

McCarthy managed Wolves for all of six years from July 2006 to February 2012, when he was finally shown the door.

Actually, the Town manager has an excellent track record against his old club and in thirteen encounters dating back to his time as Millwall coach, he has not lost against them so he will be hoping that his jinx on the Championship leaders will continue today!

On this occasion a draw of any sort would be an excellent result but in reality, a narrow defeat would also be deemed to be a respectable, if a somewhat predictable outcome.
