Town Fans Know It's A Rich Man's World

This was the week in which the manager of one of the wealthiest clubs in the world Man Utd, claimed that his team in 2nd place in the Premiership could not compete with the Man City in 1st place all because of money.

And so it proved to be the case here at Portman Road too, as again David tried to beat Goliath when Ipswich took on Derby County, who had bought our most exciting player from last season - Tom Lawrence for around 7 million pounds.

Derby were unsurprisingly a different class in the first half and it became embarrassing watching.

I decided to start writing my report but was pleasantly surprised that in the second half, as Ipswich had a real go and nearly pulled off an unexpected draw.

Luke Chambers led by example and Grant Ward had a really good game too in my view.

Without the cash in this league the best we can hope for is a good run that sneaks us into the playoffs.

Mick is in my view an asset as his presence and ability to spot unrecognised and relatively cheap talent, pulls in good championship players and a few who could make it in the Premiership.

We only have to see how well Ryan Fraser did yesterday with top flight Bournemouth to know that McCarthy is a good judge of talent.

Change the manager and I don`t see how that can help? We played with passion against a much more talented expensive team than ours yesterday and might have got something from the game.

Unless you`re lucky it`s all about 'Money Money Money' I`m afraid and until the games structure changes drastically, David will always have to face the Goliath's of this football world.
