Can Town Bounce Back Tonight At Fulham?

Can Town Bounce Back Tonight At Fulham?

Fulham were arguably the best side to have visited Portman Road this season and their 0-2 away victory was fully justified in August of last year.

But, as this is Ipswich Town's first encounter of 2018, is it too much to hope that we could perhaps return the compliment?

Last month we won away at Reading and narrowly lost to league leaders Wolves by a single goal so our away form is not so bad. When we lose away we usually lose narrowly so much might depend on who scores first this evening?

Fulham are likely to give a place in their side to striker Aboubakar Kamara, after he scored twice after coming off the bench in Saturday's draw at Hull City.

Forwards Neeskens Kebano and on-loan Chelsea winger Lucas Piazon, are also likely to play some part this evening so it is vital that Town keep it tight at the back because they could be a real handful.

There is every hope that Cole Skuse might return tonight at Craven Cottage and it is only when he is NOT playing that we tend to realise just how much he is missed!

He may not get bums off seats but he breaks up play tremendously well and is always prepared to take a yellow for the team, if there is a risk of a breakaway.

Over the years in a Town shirt he has come in for his fair share of criticism and even I have been guilty of that. The reality however is that without him our midfield lacks bite and our defence invariably looks more shaky so he is an integral part of the team.

David McGoldrick may play some part again although after his last twenty minutes against Derby he might not be missed at all. In fairness to him however, he is recovering from another injury so he is not playing to full capacity yet.

If you are in search of lucky omens then please bear in mind that The Cottagers have lost six of their last nine league matches played in January so let us hope this poor run continues tonight!

A draw would be nice but it would not really close the gap again on the top six and only an away win would put us back in the hunt.
