It's A Boring Stalemate On A Grey Day In Bolton

It's A Boring Stalemate On A Grey Day In Bolton

This game will not be remembered for anything other than the Blues wonderful equalizer, in the closing stages of the game.

There was a place in the side for new recruit from Spurs Cameron Carter-Vickers but Stephen Gleeson had to be content with a place on the bench; along with Luke Hyam, Aaron Drinian and Freddie Sears. There was also a place on the bench for young defender Chris Smith.

Bartosz Bialkowski was back in goal having recovered from a minor injury and Michael Crowe replaced Dean Gerken on bench warming duties, as our second choice keeper was again troubled with hip problems.

The first half was as dreary as the weather and there were very few chances for either side in a lifeless opening stalemate.

At half Time Cole Skuse was replaced by our other new recruit Stephen Gleeson, as just before the break, he was suffering with what appeared to be another ankle complaint.

The second half started much the same as the first half ended, with a series of misplaced passes from both sides.

What this game was crying out for was a goal and when it finally arrived, it went to the home side.

Gary Madine scored his 10th goal of the season, after turning in a Antonee Robinson cross that came in from the left.

At last the game woke up and obviously the goal gave the home crowd and their players a big lift but as we know, Town have it in their repertoire to find a way to fight back.

In the end, it was a wonderful move that got the Blues back on level terms through Jowe Garner just 9 minutes from time, which gave Town a share of the spoils at the Macron Stadium this afternoon.

The summer arrival from Rangers poked the ball over the line after Martyn Waghorn and David McGoldrick had combined to open up the Bolton defence with some slick passing and Garner found the net from point blank range.

As the game drew to a close, it was the home side who were hanging on, and Martyn Waghorn hit a fierce shot against the post on 90 minutes, as Town threatened a late winner but Town had to settle for the point that on the balance of play, was probably the right result.

If we draw at the other place tomorrow then some might see it as a step in the right direction. For me however, only a win will do.
