Ipswich Lose By Only Goal In Tight Match

Predicted by many to lose this game heavily, against top of the table Wolves, the reality was somewhat different.

As with most of the teams that we have played this season one Wolves player was valued more than the total Ipswich Team combined and add in ground staff and most of the crowd probably! And yet on the pitch, this was not so evident and it was Ipswich Town who dominated most of the play.

The Blues more than matched Wolves with fluent passing movements and were unlucky to lose by the only goal - which was a messy goal mouth scrap.

New recruit Carter-Vickers was solid at the back and worked really well with Luke Chambers, who had another great game. In midfield too the other new recruit Stephen Gleeson orchestrated play as if he`d been here for years. Mick really does have the most extraordinary ability to bring in really good players for very little cost and today they knitted together very well.

David McGoldrick is now getting a rather negative reaction from some of the crowd and seems to have fallen from club favourite to someone they`d like to see leave. I`m puzzled by this, as he has always shown great ability and a determination to get back and defend, whilst his nonchalant body language resembles a university professor who`s just popped out from preparing lectures for some fresh air. Nothing`s changed here but because the club haven`t given him a new contract, clubs like Cardiff are looking at him seriously and he seems to be written off as lazy. Doesn`t tell us something though, if stronger teams want him?

Bart had another great game in goal and it`s wonderful he`s signed to stay with the club for another three years.

Overall I thought we played good football and showed there`s little between us and the best in the league! We are still in mid table and all is not lost, if we continue to play as we did today.

Can Ipswich Town Defy Football Logic Again?

If we draw at the other place tomorrow then some might see it as a step in the right direction. For me however, only a win will do.
