No-one, not even the most ardent Blues fans would ahve predicted this scoreline but the truth is Ipswich thoroughly deserved to win and so handsomely.
It might have been different if Chris Woods' first half finish had been allowed to stand but he was ruled offside.
It could also have been different had Stephen Henderson not made to quite brilliant saves from Liam Trotter and James Henry in quick success.
But football is about taking your chances and Ipswich did just that with eight minutes of a really enetertaining first half still remaining.
The opener came in style when Daryl Murphy held the ball upo with his back to goal and found Lee Martin, who in turn played it down the wing for an overlapping Aaron Cresswell and his low cross was cleverly turning in by DJ Campbell.
A Millwall backlash was expected, after all they were on an unbeaten run which was up to 13 games, but instead their captain Danny Shittu made a mistake in not heading clear and the ball fell to Campell who crossed who Murphy who finished in style for his fourth of the season.
Murphy then won a penalty for Town by putting pressure on the defender Shane Lowry who bought a shimmy and then handled the ball on the ground.
Campbell put the spot kick away emphatically for his eighth goal in 12 games and the win was secure.
Millwall finished strongly but Town had chances too to improve their goal difference even more.
It was a convincing win, a terrific performance and a welcome three goals, three points and clean sheet playing the old 4-4-2.
