Bues Close In On Play-Off Places

Ipswich Town
1 - 1
Waford

Portman Road

December 21

Attendance: 16,835

Referee:

Not pretty but effective.

Mick McCarthy's dogmatic approach is picking up points and our unbeaten run has moved to five games, putting Town within touch of a top six place.

Goal machine David McGoldrick grabbed his10th goal of the season after a penalty decision went our way, the first penalty we have been awarded all season.

Sadly, Troy Deeney got in front of Tommy Smith and tucked away an equaliser for Watford who also ht a post.

The Hornets keeper Manuel Almunia made a couple of good saves to deny McGoldrick and Cole Skuse.

There was a nice touch on 60 minutes with a round of applause for Kevin Beattie whose birthday it was.

Not so nice was the abuse for homegrown talent Luke Hyam, with McCarthy telling Town fans to 'shut the f**k up'.
