Town Held In Cup Draw

Ipswich Town
1 - 1
Preston

Portman Road

january 4 2014

Attendance: 13,534

Referee:

Ipswich must traipse up to Preston in an FA Cup replay after being held to a draw by Preston.

Mick McCarthy made seven changes from his regular Championship line up and it looked like a reserve side.

Preston were well on top in the first half and only a couple of decent Scott Loach saves kept Town in it.

The Blues went ahead when Paul Huntingdon handled a Carlos Edwards corner.

Declan Rudd, ta Norwich City back up keeper, saved David McGoldrick's penalty but could not stop the striker's follow up finish.

But the Blues failed to hold on and Kevin Davies took advantage of Tyrone Mings playing him onside to level.

Preston looked the most likely to go on and win.

To add to Town's misery, Sylvain Ebanks-Blake limped out just 28 minutes into his debut.
