Voting With Your Feet?

This week's poll on Vital Ipswich has been all about Ipswich Town season tickets for 2011/12, and it appears that fans voting in our poll may be voting with their feet next season.

Ticket prices as a whole at Portman Road have increased since the takeover by Marcus Evans in 2007, yet with the Roy Keane era yielding successive mid-table finishes since then, watching the Blues has hardly been value for money. Following the announcement by Chief Executive Simon Clegg in March that season ticket prices were set to rise for 2011/12, it remains to be seen how many fans will be prepared to invest in a seat for next season.

We therefore decided to ask you whether you were planning to renew - or had already renewed - your Ipswich Town season ticket for next year. Here's how you responded:

43% - Yes
47% - No
10% - Undecided (Depends what happens this summer?)

Despite Town's recent revival under boss Paul Jewell since January, less than half of those who voted are currently convinced that spending more money on a season ticket for 2011/12 is worth the gamble. 43% have renewed or will be renewing their season tickets for next year, but 47% say they have already decided against it whilst a further 10% say they are still unsure of whether to splash the cash. That decision could well rely upon the outcome of transfer activity this summer, as well as potentially the performance of the team in pre-season.

Attendances at Portman Road have taken a big hit in the past couple of years, with the season average having fallen below 20,000 for the first time since relegation from the Premier League in 2002. From what has been shown here, clearly it will take a lot of work from Jewell over the next few months in the transfer market - and on the pitch next season - if he is to get the fans coming back to Portman Road in big numbers next season.

This week's poll: 'Looking back at 2010/11, was promotion ever a realistic aim for Ipswich Town this season?' (See right-hand column to place your vote)

Are you planning to renew your season ticket next year, or do you think it is a waste of money? Have season tickets become a ripoff at Portman Road? Share your views using the comment box below.
