Ipswich Finally Wake Up!
The season so far has been largely disappointing to the point where I haven't felt the urge to write my usual articles.
The match against QPR this Saturday has changed that and I am now of the opinion that we do have a chance of climbing up the table as we head towards Christmas.
Driving away from Portman Road with two younger Ipswich fans in the back, it was brilliant to hear cheering and see cars with Ipswich scarves hanging out of the windows once again. It was also heartening to hear the legendary Mick Mills discussing the 3-0 victory on Radio Suffolk.
Town did not play particularly well again today but they deserved to win and could have scored another six goals in the last fifteen minutes, when they played their best football for many months.
Before that, we were admittedly somewhat fortunate with the goals from Grant Ward, Luke Varney and Tom Lawrence. But to give them their due, they took their goals well and overall the team deserved this comfortable win.
On the radio they were saying how quiet the phone lines were this week, in contrast to all the criticism in previous weeks. This is interesting and I hope Ipswich can take that a stage further and now bring the fans back behind one of the best managers in the championship.
Mick has not had cash but he has moved the club forward. Some of our best players are now back from injury so let's get behind them and use this momentum to take us back to the top six. We are only four points off the play off places and if this improvement continues, we could be in for a very happy Christmas!
